மாசிமகம்

The inscription of Naralokavira to which we have referred in Chapter Four mentions that this Chief had built a road leading to, and a mantapa on the sea-shore (near killai). It points to the Masi festival when the Lord (as Somaskanda) was taken in procession from Chidambaram to Killai nearly three miles away) on the sea-coast. Rajendra I's inscription too refers to the Masi festival. Perhaps it was abandoned later for reasons of security while in transit.
